Greatest Books of This Generation

In 2016, Mentalfloss estimated there had been 134,021,533 books published since the creation of the Printing Press (How Many Books Have Ever Been Published? | Mental Floss).

SO MANY BOOKS.

And while I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE books, sometimes I read a book that was . . . just okay. Or sometimes I’ll read a book that was even worse.

With so many books to read in the world, why are we reading books that are just okay? Why are we reading books that waste our time, kill our brain cells (figuratively, not literally), or make us skip pages because of the amount of sex/swearing? (Of Mice and Men. Love the book, but SO MUCH swaring! Grrr!)

I’ll help you eliminate those books.

Here's how it works:

= STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND READ THIS RIGHT NOW.

= REALLY LIKE THIS BOOK! Highly recommend it. (Hunger Games, Fablehaven)

= Some issues with it/could have been better/not a genre I particularly love, but I still enjoyed it.

If it has two stars or less, don’t waste your time. You’ll regret reading it.

***Inordinate amount of swearing and/or sex scenes will decrease the rating***

I’m going to be REALLY picky with these 5-star ratings. Think of it this way. These books with 5 stars will be the classics in 100 years. They need to compete with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Shakespeare, and Jane Austen. They need to be more than good and fun; they need to be relatable, perspective-changing, and add value to the world.

Very popular books will usually get 4 stars! (Books like Hunger Games, Divergent, Matched)

I will only blog books that are 5 stars, but my Bookstagram (@authorkara_mugleston) will have 4 and 5 star reviews. ALL my books (I usually read 2-3 books a week) will be rated on my Goodreads account.

Side Note: These views are all subjective. These are my own personal reviews. You may like some books that I hate. You may hate some books that I love. And that's okay! Thank goodness that we all have different tastes.

If you want to have a discussion (ahem, not an argument) about the books, PLEASE DO! I LOVE TALKING ABOUT BOOK! My comments are open, my DM's are open, my email is open. Please talk to me about books. That will make me so happy.

Happy Reading!
